Acceptance of terms
These terms govern your use of the Lokt mobile app. By creating an account or using Lokt, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Lokt.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to create a Lokt account or place a stake. By using Lokt, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
How stakes work
On Lokt, you create a "stake" by:
- Picking a goal — a template ("Wake up," "Go to the gym," "Cook a meal") or a custom goal you write yourself;
- Setting a deadline;
- Choosing a stake amount between ₹20 and ₹5,000;
- Choosing a charity from Lokt's partner list, to receive your stake if you miss your goal; and
- Paying via Razorpay.
Once paid, your stake is active until it is resolved — either by successful proof, a missed window, or a cancellation as described below. There is no prize and no winnings on Lokt: the most you can ever receive back is the stake amount you paid in, and there is no betting or wagering between users.
Platform fee
Every stake carries a flat platform fee of ₹10, shown to you before payment and charged together with your stake amount (for example, a ₹20 stake means a ₹30 charge). The fee is refunded along with your stake if you complete your goal or cancel in time. Lokt keeps the fee only when a stake fails; it is not part of the amount donated.
Proof rules and review
Each goal has a proof window: it opens before your deadline (15 minutes for puzzle-style goals, up to a few hours for photo goals depending on the goal) and closes 15 minutes after your deadline. All window times are measured by Lokt's server clock, not your device's clock.
- Puzzle goals (such as "Wake up") require you to solve a short in-app puzzle within the window.
- Photo goals (such as "Go to the gym" or "Cook a meal") require you to submit a photo within the window. Photos are reviewed by the Lokt team; if a photo isn't reviewed within 12 hours of submission, it is automatically approved in your favour.
If valid proof isn't submitted and approved before the window closes, the goal is treated as missed.
Cancellation
You may cancel an active stake up to 4 hours before its proof window opens, for a full refund of the stake and fee. Once that cutoff has passed, a stake cannot be cancelled. If you create a stake but don't complete payment, it is automatically cancelled after 30 minutes and you are not charged.
Refunds
If you complete your goal and your proof is approved, the full amount you paid — stake and platform fee — is refunded to your original payment method. The same applies if you cancel a stake within the cancellation window. Refunds are issued via Razorpay; banks typically take 5–7 working days to show them. Donations are final
If a stake fails — no valid proof by the time the window closes, or a photo is rejected — the stake amount is donated to the charity you chose when you created the stake. This donation is final once made: Lokt does not reverse, refund, or return a failed stake to you. Lokt never keeps a failed stake for itself.
Acceptable use
When using Lokt, you agree not to:
- Submit fake, staged, or re-used proof (including photos taken for a different stake or a different time);
- Create or use multiple accounts to gain an advantage or evade a suspension;
- Attempt to manipulate, exploit, or interfere with the puzzle mechanism, proof review, or payment/refund process; or
- Use Lokt for any unlawful purpose.
Account suspension
We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you've violated these terms, including the acceptable use rules above. Where a stake is affected by suspected abuse, we may withhold a refund or donation pending review.
Limitation of liability
Lokt is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lokt is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including missed deadlines, failed proof submissions, or delays caused by third parties such as Razorpay or Google. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Lokt after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
